Assessments

We conduct assessments of individuals and organizations to learn your organization’s challenges and opportunities for growth. It helps us to customize our work so we can train your people based on “where they are.” Our assessments range from comprehensive research that includes focus groups and employee surveys, to quicker and simpler methods such as personal interviews.

The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI®)

The IDI® is a 50-question online assessment that enables an employee to discover their own level of intercultural competence. An interculturally competent person knows how to discern differences in their own culture as well as in other cultures. They possess the ability to effectively bridge cultural differences. This leads to effectively communicating, engaging, and inspiring people of all races, ethnicities, backgrounds, genders, mental and physical abilities, and many more identities. As a skill, intercultural competence enables the development of mutually adaptive solutions that take various world views into account.

Strategy Development

Many organizations want to improve on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), but don’t know how or where to start. Together, we build a strategy for transformational change as DEIB requires intentionality and a clear plan. IC Edge works with organizations at all levels – strategizing with leaders, boards of directors, DEI councils, and other parts of an organization – to achieve the organization’s goals.

Education

Education is at the core of what do and can be broken out into four areas.

  • At IC Edge, we cover almost every advanced subject on DEIB. Some of the topics (below) may seem basic, but we cover them at an advanced level. We hope your organization will do the mindset and skill-building workshops before tackling the advanced subjects, but they are not required. Our topics include, but are not limited to:

    • Effect multicultural recruiting

    • Retaining Your Talent

    • Pipeline/Session Planning with Diversity and Inclusion in Mind

    • Multicultural Employee Engagement

    • Inclusive Leadership

    • How to Create Beneficial Employee Resource Groups

    • Crucial Conversations

    • Embracing LGBTQ

    • Understanding and Supporting the Different Levels of Ableness

    • Avoiding the Generational Collide

    • How to Talk about Race without Trauma

    And many more!

  • To actualize DEIB in the workplace, an individual, team, or entire organization must develop the skills to do so. These skills cannot be built in an hour presentation or even in a 3-hour course. As with most skills, it takes continuous learning and practicing until the desired skill becomes second nature or a habit.

To develop the appropriate knowledge, mindset, and skill, we take your team through a series of four workshops that are 4-hours long. These workshops are spread out over 9-12 months, so learners get an opportunity between workshops to practice the skills learned. Plus, we provide additional reading between sessions. These workshops build upon each other, starting with solid basic information and moving on to advance topics. We have used this methodology with many organizations, allowing them to transform their culture to one that embraces cultural differences and fosters diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Our workshop also includes many elements of change management theory. We are not here to solve your perceived diversity problems but to transform your culture into one that does not create the issues and can eliminate any that arise. Achieving a higher level of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is a transformational change process. Our workshops provide the attitudinal change and intercultural competence skills to make the change happen.

We can share the specifics of this popular course line-up upon request.

  • We believe everyone should understand the essential concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Learning these concepts is an entry point to navigating the cultural differences of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ableness, generations, and many more. Whether you are a leader, team member, or individual contributor, a foundational understanding of DEIB principles is imperative in today’s diverse and multicultural world.

We teach these foundational concepts in our Diversity Essentials workshop. This workshop is a live, instructor-led, virtual session that is 3.5 hours long. Diversity Essentials is for everyone, from beginners to advanced learners. Beginners learn the essential concepts, and advanced learners refresh their knowledge, all in a way that connects these vital concepts to the modern workplace.

  • At the awareness level, we concentrate on accomplishing five goals:

    1. Gain a deeper understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging concepts

    2. Learn individual, team, and organizational benefits of DEIB

    3. Understand how DEIB education supports the success of your entire organization

    4. Move past the myths and misconceptions of DEIB

    5. Inspire your employees to embrace the DEIB journey

Our awareness training is either a presentation or a mini workshop, typically 1 to 2 hours, based on your organization’s needs. Awareness education is an excellent stand-alone, motivational DEIB experience. Our clients have also found that an inviting awareness presentation of this length is a perfect way to kick off a more extensive educational journey.

Coaching

To combat diversity misconceptions (what we call diversity clutter), one-on-one coaching has become vital. Our experienced coaches work with all levels, from individuals to leadership to executives.

With coaching, we help you develop as an inclusive leader to:

  • build your confidence in engaging across cultures, both internally and externally

  • lead a diverse team to higher levels of belonging

  • eliminate unwittingly offending others

  • have your words match your heart

We tailor your coaching sessions to fit your needs. Coaching sessions are 1-2 hours and spread across several months based upon your schedule.

Presentations

A diversity presentation is often essential to creating awareness of the benefits of DEIB, especially at the beginning of a journey. We are here to help. We deliver customized presentations that motivate and inspire.

Our audiences have included:

  • Staff groups

  • Boards of Directors

  • Executive Committees

  • DEI Councils

  • Civil groups

  • Other stakeholders
